The Illinois Tech Master of Information Technology (MIT) is designed for experienced IT professionals ready to advance into leadership roles. The program blends advanced management strategies with in-demand technical skills to prepare you to lead teams and drive innovation in a rapidly evolving industry.
Through a career-focused, project-based curriculum, you will gain hands-on experience solving real-world IT challenges. You will build skills in full-stack web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, databases, and open-source frameworks, while working on applied projects in web applications, network configuration, virtualization, and cloud technologies. This hands-on experience culminates in a capstone project that integrates multiple technologies and prepares you to make an immediate impact in senior-level roles.
Instead of a traditional application, enrollment is granted if you hold a bachelor’s degree and successfully complete one of two pathways: Hardware and Operating Systems Foundation or the Google IT Support Professional Certificate. Upon full admission, the specialization certificate will count directly toward your Master of Information Technology degree.

Admission is performance-based rather than application-based. To enroll as a degree-seeking student, learners must provide proof of a bachelor’s degree and successfully complete one of two entry options: the Hardware and Operating Systems Foundation Certificate or the Google IT Support Professional Certificate. The completed certificate counts toward the degree after full admission.
The program is designed to be completed in 12 to 22 months. Students should expect 10 to 12 courses overall and plan for about 15 to 20 hours of study per week.
Total tuition is $15,000, based on 30 credits at about $500 per credit. The program uses a pay-as-you-go model, so students pay course by course rather than upfront. Eligible prior learning on Coursera can count for up to 3 credits and reduce total cost by as much as $1,500.
The curriculum combines advanced management strategies with technical IT skills, including full-stack web development, databases, open-source frameworks, web applications, network configuration, virtualization, and cloud technologies. The program concludes with a capstone project that integrates multiple technologies in a practical setting.
